Institutionally we have congregational polity meaning we make our own decisions.
As an independent entity, the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Flint is governed by its bylaws, with congregational policies to help interpret them consistently. All members participate in bi-annual meetings, where they elect board, nominating, and endowment committee members, approve changes to the bylaws, and determine the budget.
Between these meetings, the elected board, led by a moderator, oversees the life of the church with support from our ministers. The executive board also serves as the personnel team, responsible for hiring and guiding paid staff.
