"CITIZEN, CIVIL LIBERTARIAN, UNITARIAN" Harold Ford

Our Sunday Service: October 25th

Summary:

Political ads fill our screens, mailboxes, and neighborhoods. Each tells a story about who we are, what we should fear, whom we can trust, and what our country might become. What are these stories asking us to believe—and whose interests do they serve?

In the final service of our four-part series, we’ll explore how to listen critically, remain open to complexity, and make informed choices. What does our Unitarian Universalist faith ask of us as voters, neighbors, and participants in a shared democracy?

Join us as we consider why we vote—and what it takes to sustain a healthy democracy beyond Election Day.

"The Stories We’re Asked to Believe" Rev. Joe Cherry

Our Sunday Service: October 18th

Summary:

Gloria Steinem said in one of her last interviews, “The great thing about a [justice] movement is you have each other.” Mary Jo Ebert, Director of Michigan UU Social Justice Network, will explore how working together for justice with fellow congregants, the local community, or statewide can inspire and uplift even during the most difficult times and how this addresses the communal need we have as humans.

Her talk will include news about projects MUUSJN is leading during this time of great longing for justice and community.

"The Great Thing Is...You Have Each Other" Mary Jo Ebert

Our Sunday Service: October 11th

Summary:
We inherit stories about who we are and where we came from—stories about Pilgrims, Founders, freedom, faith, and even our own Unitarian Universalist ancestors. Most of those stories contain some truth. But what happens when we discover there is more to the story?

This Sunday, Rev. Joe continues our exploration of beginnings by asking what happens when the stories we tell about “us” become a little too tidy. Who gets included in the “we”? Who gets left out? And what might change when we make room for a more complicated story?

"The Rise of a National Movement" Rev. Joe Cherry

Our Sunday Service: October 2nd

"It's More Complicated Than That" Rev. Joe Cherry

Our Sunday Service: September 27th

Summary:Every culture has as at least one creation story, and our question this week is what are these stories trying to teach us about our shared humanity and our place in the world?

Come and join us and maybe discover a whole new way of seeing your place in the universe.

"In the Beginning" Rev. Joe Cherry

Our Sunday Service: September 20th

Summary:
As we approach the Autumnal Equinox it seems a good time to look at how the balances in our lives work. Work and Play, Comfort and Growth, Pain and Joy.

How balanced, or out of balance, do you feel?

"It's All in the Balance" Rev. Joe Cherry

Our Sunday Service: September 13th

Summary:
Water Communion is a ritual that Unitarian and UU congregations around the world have come to adopt as a way to celebrate coming together to begin a new church year. Rooted in a feminist ethic of gathering, Water Communion is rich with symbolism and ritual. If you can remember, bring water this Sunday with you from somewhere special.

If you forget your water, we’ll have prepared water in advance for your use.

Please join us as we begin a new year.

"Water Communion" Rev. Joe Cherry

Our Sunday Service: September 6th
