Perennial
People all over the world love to do Easter. The Phoenicians did it 3000 years ago when they sacrificed animals to the Goddess Astarte. The ancient Germans did it 1300 years ago when celebrating their Goddess, Eostre with eggs and rabbits. The Zoroastrians did it, Christians still do it, and even UUs celebrate it…in their own way of course. Yes, humans down through the ages have obviously loved doing Easter in the spring! But why? The answer is verrrry interesting.
Defiant Dames Who Changed the World
Celebrate Women’s History Month by joining us for songs and stories of compassionate, rebellious women, who changed the world. We gather to revel in past victories, and to refuel for the long road to full equality, that lies ahead.
True Faith
Some progressive people understandably dislike the word “faith.” It reminds them of religions that require blind faith in doubtable, disastrous doctrines. But wait…true faith is 100%, reasonable. History proves that our love, reason, and quest for justice can fix a messed-up world, but they don’t work overnight! We keep-on keeping-on because we have faith they will eventually win the day. This service is all about growing our faith, that the world needs so desperately.
Sunday Service of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Flint

Becoming Creatively Maladjusted
This service is the third in our series celebrating our UUCF motto, “Love, Justice, Reason…in Faith.” Martin Luther King Jr. called on people to be maladjusted to man’s inhumanity to man and continue to do so until they achieved the “good society.” Freedom and justice would therefore, be in the hands of the “creatively maladjusted”…like us! We are creatively maladjusted when we give to causes like Motherly Intercession, Planned Parenthood and the other good works we support. This Sunday, we will discuss how we can be even more creative so that our work for justice becomes an opportunity for our growth.
Our Uncommon Faith
This service is the second in our series celebrating our UUCF motto: “Love, Justice, Reason…In Faith.”
The apostle Paul wrote that “faith without love is dead.” UUs go even further and say “faith without love…and reason, is dead. In the past four years we witnessed many people forsaking rationality for a blind faith in destructive, self-serving beliefs. Now our nation needs us to proclaim that without rationality, we are de-evolving…allowing global warming, irrational gun laws, and other deadly ideas to prosper. This service celebrates our church for its live-giving supply of good-ole rationality which is currently hard to find in America!
A Greatest Hits Service
We come into our UU communities to do some good, as we make some friends and grow our souls. What other motivations might we bring with us, and which ones do we need to check at the door? What difference do we want to make with the time we have?
The Reverend Cheryl M. Walker has served as the Pastor of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Wilmington, NC since 2009. Prior to going to Wilmington, she served four years as the Assistant Minister at the Unitarian Church of All Souls in New York City.
The Greatest of These Is Love
UUs do believe in a trinity, of sorts. Our motto at the UUCF is “Love, Justice, Reason…in Faith.” Those three ways-of-being describe our lofty goals, and even when we fail to obtain them, we are better for our striving. This service is the first of three celebrating the highest ideals of humankind that we call our own. We begin on this Valentine’s Day talking about love. Everybody says they are all for it…but when you make it the foundation of your religion…it is a whole different thing!
LGBTQIAN+ What do all these letters stand for?
Sharon Pedersen from the Michigan Unitarian Universalist Social Justice Network will speak on Welcoming Congregation Renewal and Social Justice. She’ll touch on how Welcoming Congregation Renewal relates to MUUSJN’s social justice work, and why renewing Welcoming Congregation status is important. She’ll also cover ” LGBTQIAN+”: what do all those letters stand for? (Sharon will use words relating to gender and sexual orientation, so you may want to screen this presentation before sharing it with your young children unless you’ve had “the talk” with them already.) Finally she’ll talk about how to be an Ally.
